From the deep dense garnet colour to the aroma of tar and old plums, we knew we were onto a beauty here. This wine's savouriness was enhanced by some lovely "old barrel" notes and a dash of sweet almond.
The palate is smooth, heavy-bodied and full of tarry, spicy plum and boot polish flavours. The taste is complemented by some delightful dried herb flavours. Here's the ideal fireside wine – it will also go well at the table, served with a rich casserole or roast beef – lovely.
